Sara's Smile
Every once in a great great while
this some someone will share a smile
that shines so bright it creates a glow
that lights the way and won't take no
when it beckons yours in return
and then all at once you learn
that in this smile was some something
that makes you call yours back and
bring
on some one day another light
that lifts the dark and bans the night
for some someone else you didn't know
was even there who would never show
or never ever dream to dare
to smile the smile that Sara shared.

For Nathaniel
How long the nights
How short the days
May be in spite of those who pray
For shorter nights
And longer days
Where every child forever plays.

Magic Way
A smidgen of fairy dust magic added to the lesson of the day and sprinkled wherever children play can create a spark like fairies do whenever they appear to you and days so drear for children who just want to play will learn instead in the magic way.

Land of Orange and Blue
In this land of orange and blue,
Is a magic place where dreams come true.
Where pain is gone and gentle touch
From those who care can mean so much
And all who come learn hope anew in
This magic land of orange and blue.

Shand's Kids
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts
Especially when the vision starts
To clear and see what should be done
For those whose race has just begun
And for whom the road is paved
With hurdles, holes and dreams delayed
The whole will fill with those who care
Enough to see enough to share
Their sum and make at least in part
A smoother road for those who’ll start
And run that race with steps so swift
That they in turn return the gift
And become those parts, those sums, those wholes
With vision clear, and different goals.

Special Teams – Healthy Families
Among the finest “Special Teams”,
Are some you may not know.
They don’t run and they don’t kick
But, they help us all to grow.
This Team works to make things right,
To make this world a place,
Where children can sleep safe at night,
In a warm and loving space.
Now, when you think of “Special Teams”,
They’re not just those who play.
They’re those who struggle, learn and teach,
To help parents find the way
So if you want to join our team,
In this “special” generation,
Come punt, come play, come work with us,
To build a Healthy Nation!
